5 on Friday // All Things Christmas

Happy Friday! I’m linking up with DarciChristinaApril, and Natasha for 5 on Friday and Karli and Amy for oh hey friday. Only one more week of work before a nice break! Yay! I can’t wait until I get to spend more time with my kiddos and hubby:)

{one} I know….I’m probably one of the last but we don’t even have our tree up.  We had too much going on last weekend and I was sick, so our plan is to pick out a tree on Saturday.  Yay! It will seem more like Christmas once we have our tree up.  In the meantime, I’ve put up a few decorations around the house, including this simple display on our mantle.  I included our Christmas cards from the past two years. I need to dig out our other old Christmas cards for decorations as well.  I just love comparing how much the kiddos have grown over the years:) IMG_7625.JPG

A Christmas tea towel to brighten up the kitchen. IMG_7279.JPG{two} Will and Harper loved that I got out their stockings and hung them up.  They’re thick, monogrammed ones I bought from Pottery Barn Kids (on sale, of course!). I love how well they are made.  Speaking of stockings, I have all of the kids’ gifts bought.  I still have a few gifts to buy for others, but the kids’ shopping is completely done-yay! Last year, I started keeping things really simple and have gone with the philosophy of something they need, something they want, something to read, and something to wear.  It’s worked out well for us and has limited the amount of toys we have.  Believe me, we already have too many toys! Will, Harper and I recently went through and completed a toy purge.  Will’s preschool was accepting donations of gently used toys and clothes to give to missionaries and other groups, so we sorted through toys and clothes to come up with a huge pile of donations.  IMG_7634.JPGIMG_7273.JPG

{three} I bought these cute red and green tins at Target a few years ago and stashed them away for Christmas.  I hadn’t found a use for them until recently.  They are perfect for storing our holiday books and look festive in each kiddo’s bedroom.  I’ve seen blogs where they decorate their kiddos’ rooms, which is so cute.  However, I’m keeping it simple this year with just a few decorations:)IMG_7637.JPG

{four} How cool are these snow globes?! They’re Anthropologie inspired snow globes from Whipperberry. I plan on attempting these as gifts for a few people…I’m just waiting on the trees to arrive.  Hopefully they will turn out like the ones below, which are so cute!

{five + one more!} Last weekend, my in-laws came for a visit and my mother-in-law got to experience her first ever cookie day at Nana’s, our babysitter.  Unfortunately, I was sick and stayed at home.  I was so glad that Mimi took Harper and Will to cookie day…it’s a fun-filled day of baking thousands (yes, literally thousands…one year, we kept track for a while and were up to 1,800!) of cookies.  Here’s a peek at Will and Harper eyeing all the cookies! Their favorite part was decorating the sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles.  Such fun! I’ve been participating in cookie day for over 7 years now! Hard to believe! IMG_7233-0.JPG

And one more…on Sunday, we headed to our local toy store for a visit with Santa.  Harper was a little shy at first but eventually sat on Santa’s lap when we told her she could take a book with her.  Love it!IMG_7257-0.JPGI hope you have a wonderful, festive weekend!

  1. Looks like you guys have been doing lots of fun festive things! Nana is a serious baker! I bet the kids had a blast!

  2. Oh I feel so Christmassy after seeing your post! Your decorations are gorgeous. Love your blog, found it on the link up.

    • Oh, thanks so much! Christmas kind of snuck up on me this year…it’s hard to believe Christmas is next week. Thanks for visiting from the link up:)
